Just sealed the deal on our new house in O’Fallon. Chatted outside with the landlord for a half hour. He seems like a really cool fellow. A graying, late-forties father of 3 boys, he is very youthful, hip on current music, and easy to talk with. Apparently he’s divorced and dating, as he mentioned his girlfriend. Somehow, that’s encouraging – I can’t put my finger on why, exactly.

We strolled through the house again, this time sizing up the space for serious furniture placement consideration. When we saw it before, we had been mentally comparing it to the shape and space of the Glen Carbon duplex we saw right before. The duplex utilized space more efficiently and was very nicely laid out. The O’Fallon house seemed cramped by comparison. But the house sits in a far better neighborhood and is much better looking on the outside, as well as being nice on the inside. And this walkthru, it actually seemed larger. I think we’ll even have a good workaround for the fireplace that takes up so much space in the living room.

Plus, we confirmed that we could have a dog, which is fan-freakin-tastic. We are so incredibly excited about that.

Work today was pretty low energy. A bit of interesting news early on, though. Gary, the sales manager for The Point, was fired yesterday. Details were sketchy, but apparently he’d been doing under the table trade deals with some local businesses, putting their spots on the air as freebies, and pocketing the trade. Easier to do than taking money, but no less shady. Personally, I’ve never cared for Gary. He’s been with us for a little less than a year, and much of his sales staff have turned over since then. He’s kind of like a greasy used car salesman…

Oh, Gene and Mary just got here from Chicago. Gotta run…
